Feed Talk-UX Design

Community-Driven Feedback Enhancement tool with FeedTalk: Shaping Product Development

In this case study, I identify and solve the key problems by analyzing competitors, mapping user journeys, conducting user interviews, creating information architecture, developing user flows, and designing basic wireframes to build an effective feedback platform, "FeedTalk."

This project was a collaborative effort between myself and my friend Niveditha. We combined our skills and perspectives to tackle the unique challenges and design solutions presented in FeedTalk. It was an enriching experience that enhanced our understanding of user-centric design.

This case study was developed using the design thinking process.

  1. The Problem

Many feedback systems lack engagement and visibility, leading users to question why they should spend time giving feedback when they can’t see if it’s even being considered.

This results in scattered and passive feedback, making it difficult for product owners to gather valuable insights. Consequently, the product team misses out on opportunities to connect with users and improve the product based on real-time feedback.

  1. The Goal

"FeedTalk" integrates smoothly into each product, making feedback a natural part of the user experience. It allows users to easily share their thoughts and ensures that product teams can see and act on this feedback. By turning user input into valuable insights, FeedTalk helps improve products continuously and encourages collaboration between users and product teams. This simple and efficient approach strengthens engagement and drives innovation.

  1. User Research: Summary

In our research for FeedTalk, we found that users often feel their feedback is ignored and doesn’t influence product development. They want a more engaging and transparent process. To address this, FeedTalk allows users to upvote feedback they agree with, ensuring popular issues get noticed. We also limited discussion replies to product owners to keep conversations constructive. This approach helps users feel their input is valued and can lead to real changes.

  1. Pain points

The pain points listed below are derived from the interviews we conducted, and the user personas are explained in detail in the attached Figma link.

Complexity in Feedback Mechanisms Many users find existing feedback systems complicated and discouraging. FeedTalk simplifies the process, making it easier and quicker to use, which encourages more users to participate and provide valuable feedback.

Limited Integration with Existing Platforms Users often find it inconvenient to switch between tools to give feedback. FeedTalk integrates directly into the existing platform, allowing users to provide feedback without interrupting their workflow, making the experience smoother and more efficient.

Inadequate Customization Options Feedback tools often lack customization, making it hard for brands to match the tool with their visual identity. FeedTalk will offer extensive customization options, allowing businesses to tailor the feedback experience to fit their brand seamlessly.

Lack of Effective Moderation FeedTalk will use advanced moderation to keep feedback constructive and relevant, preventing negative or off-topic comments from affecting the product’s reputation and creating a positive environment for users.

  1. Competitive & SWOT Analysis Summary

Based on the reviews and information provided across the various feedback platforms such as Survey Monkey, TrustRadius, TrustPilot, TypeForm, Hotjar, User Testing, Canny, and Delighted, here is a summarized competitive analysis:

  1. Competitor Strengths: Established platforms like Survey Monkey offer robust features, while Hotjar excels in user-friendliness. TrustPilot and User Testing are praised for their strong customer support.

  1. Competitor Weaknesses: High costs and complexity on platforms like Survey Monkey and TypeForm deter smaller users due to premium pricing and intricate features.

  1. Opportunities for FeedTalk: FeedTalk can stand out by offering seamless integration, cost-effective solutions, and extensive customization options.

  1. Threats and Challenges: The market is saturated, and users may resist switching from familiar platforms. Building trust and ensuring data privacy are crucial for adoption.
