How to build Habit-forming Products

While reading Hooked by Nir Eyal, I began noticing something interesting—I started paying closer attention to the apps I use every day, from social media to productivity tools, and realized how effortlessly they kept me engaged. Suddenly, I could see the exact triggers, actions, and rewards these apps used to form habits. It wasn’t just random design choices; it was all intentional.

This book helped me understand the psychology behind it all, and as a product designer, it made me think differently about how we can shape user behavior through design. The more I applied the principles of Hooked to the apps I was using, the more I saw just how powerful this framework really is.

So, I decided to take a session on this for a tech talk, sharing how habit-forming products are built using the Hooked Model. Now, I’ve turned that into a 7-minute video to share with all of you.

If you’ve ever wondered how certain apps keep you coming back, or if you're a designer looking to build more engaging products, this video might give you some fresh insights. Let me know what you think! 😊
